One the 23rd of April people in Catalunya are on the streets…it's a day when you can find stands with books and roses in every town and village…To offer a book and a rose to beloved ones turns the day into an homage to friendship and culture. Many civic and cultural events take place that day all over Catalunya. They celebrate Saint Georges Day, the patron saint of Catalunya since the XIVth Century with a popular, civic and cultural feast.   The most popular legend about this saint patron of Catalunya is about a dragon that all the inhabitants of a village feared. To keep it quiet, a sheep and a maid, chosen at random, had to be given to it. One day, the chosen maid was the king's daughter. Saint Georges miraculously saved her and beat the dragon.   Saint Georges Legend is very popular in Catalunya.
